Iran deeply concerned about critical humanitarian situation in Yemen

TEHRAN, Nov. 13 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi said that Islamic Republic of Iran is deeply worried about the grave humanitarian disaster in Yemen.

Terminating humanitarian disaster in this impoverished country is a historic responsibility for the contemporary world of today, Ghasemi maintained.

In a reaction to the recent developments in Yemen and deterioration of conditions in this impoverished country especially nonstop bombardment of residential units and healthcare treatment centers in Al Hudaydah by Saudi-led fighters, he said, “Islamic Republic of Iran considers inattention of invaders to warnings and concerns of international community as the main cause of such a critical and inhuman situation in Yemen.”

Under baseless and unfounded excuses, it is about four years that defenseless and innocent people of this country have been exposed to attacks and bombardment of Saudi Arabia's fighter jets, he reiterated.

He pointed to the recent stance of UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNHCHR) with regard to the current critical situation in Yemen and called for international community and responsible organizations to take practical steps for putting an end to humanitarian crisis in Yemen.

It is for years that Islamic Republic of Iran has proposed a plan for terminating crisis in Yemen with a completely humanitarian and philanthropic approach and voices its readiness to cooperate with the international community to help improve humanitarian conditions in Yemen, Ghasemi emphasized.
